By: “” is the first Iranian Heavy Metal/Thrash Metal band benefiting from female lead vocal. Below is an interview with Pooyan Madadi, lead guitarist & composer of the band. Download lagu secondhand serenade your call akustik. Dear Pooyan, can you tell us how “5grs” formed?

Pooyan: “5 grs” is one of the Iranian Heavy Metal/Thrash Metal Bands formed in 2004 in Tehran by Pooyan Madadi, band’s lead guitarist & composer with their discriminating factor being the first Metal band in Iran benefiting from female lead vocal. What does 5grs exactly mean?

Pooyan: The only thing which can be stated about the name given to the band is that it is the title of a painting done by Mohammad Ali Madadi, the late painter, sculptor, my dad. What was the problem with the early years’ gigs? Download instagram apk for android. Was it technical or something else?

The general issue that most of the bands face in initial stages is lack of professional conditions; i.e. Producers, managers, events, technical knowledge which are all interrelated and with one being defected the others cannot improve at all. How these gigs took place, I mean they were mostly underground or you had legal permission for them?

Pooyan: We did not have any official permission, since with the incidents taking place in Iran politically the government is totally against these kind of movement. Therefore, all the events and releases were done by me singlehandedly without any professional support or official permits. How the first idea of female vocal came in your mind? The vocalist found your mind or your mind the female vocal? Pooyan: Sanam 5049 was an apprentice of Arash Radan in electric guitar and I got to know her through him and I met her in very severe conditions. I was at Arash’s place one day and I explained the idea of the band to her and played some samples for her. Thereafter, she showed interest in joining the band.

One of the reasons why I never thought of this idea priorly was the lack of professional vocalist in this genre in Iran and the though about finding a “female vocal” never crossed my mind before. However, through meeting her and getting to know her professional background in singing, I was more than thrilled to have her in my band. How is fans’ attitude toward a female vocalist?

How they feel about it? Pooyan: Upon releasing the first studio album, we faced two contrasting feedbacks: Some were really surprised and liked the idea of a heavy metal band having female vocal while the other hardcore/fanatic fans were completely against the idea and thought that this kind of music shall not accompany female vocal. Is there any way for fans outside Iran to buy your CD and other stuffs? Pooyan: For the first release it was not possible, but the second album can be downloaded from itunes at the moment but until we get an international producer, it is impossible to sell the album worldwide.

5grs has had many lineup changes, what has been the problem? Pooyan: As stated in the previous questions, the reasons were the lack of professional conditions, some musicians show not enough motivation and do not allocate enough energy for the band and if one would show more devoted attention in this regard, he cannot deal with those people and have to change the lineup every once in a while. Tell me about the next album “Let’s Crush”. When would it be released? Is it also a mixture of Heavy and Thrash Metal? Pooyan: About the new album I can say that it is far more aggressive and contains a mixture of heavy/thrash and progressive metal and at the moment is in the latest stages of mix and master and I hope to be able to release it in midsummer but as I stated before, the lack of professional condition in our country makes it really hard for the whole activities.
